Blog Ho!

It's like a construction project with no blueprints. Just keeps changing repeatedly. No end in sight yet. For now, SkunkRatt stuff will be hosted here so I can keep the main blog generic.

Fantazy Fatballz

The Fantasy Football season is now ova!! Fartknockers had an unreal season with like two losses or something. I dunno how to check the stats but I think that's what it was. Congratz to him for regular season win.

Turned out to be a systems sweep with Stinky winning the playoffs. I thought for sure I'd get dirshed but my hands off approach seemed to do the trick. Lucky for me Okole set my lineup and Cowboys gave me the play tips. Otherwise, I just suck! :P

Good games to everyone!!

Ouch

Have suffered from pinched nerves the past 20 years or so. In my foolish youth I caused injury to both shoulders. Even now the injury is so enduring that it's left both physical and mental scars.

The physical pain I deal with daily. I am limited to partial shoulder movement of the left arm at or below the height of the socket. With arm extended I am in pain 80% of the time outside of that position. It is to the point that I expect the sharp, debilitating spasm of pain to shoot up and down my arm only to fully subside when the arm is relaxed down.

How I got here is my own fault but probably not something new. My favorite weight training excercise has always been flat bench press. Young, dumb, and wanting to impress I would regularly throw the bar up off my hands on exhale then catch, lower, and pump again. This was fine since I was still young and the weight not that heavy.

In time, the weight increased and I continued to play with fate. Having not come to the realization of personal injury it finally caught up with me. Years of bar tossing severely tore the tissue in my shoulder blades. It worsened with shoulder dislocations probably due to weakening the socket.

Healing only made it worse. Layers of scar tissue built up around the nerves to the point where they now apply too great of a pressure when they touch. Ouch is no joke.

I've read about surgery, hormone replacement, and other treatments but just comes down to money. None seem to been 100% though you definitely have to dish out the $$$ whether it works or not. And yet, just when it seemed like sucksville there was some hope.

Since getting back into the swing of things (literally) I have noticed greater flexibility and strength. My pain threshold has also increased which is good for those long pumps. Stretching, weight training, and a supp designed specifcally for joint flexibility seems to have been a good road to recovery.

Guess things have a reason for happening.

Heavyweight

Should have done this in intervals using a schedule or chart. If I'd been smart I'd have checked at least on a bi-monthly or even monthly basis. But now I really have no clue other than the general start and current end.

As I mentioned before I started at around a beerfully 240lbs. I was at a party this past Saturday and saw a scale in the bathroom. Couldn't resist so I got on, closed my eyes, then opened em back up. It suprised me at first cause I thought I was much lighter but the scale pointed to 19xlbs.

I remained stunned for a bit then realized the muscle is probably what brought it back up. Of course there is no way to determine if I got lower than that though I certainly felt like I did. Probably was the lightest just before I started taking the bulkers and eating more starches again.

Since I don't like taking measurements and am terrible at documentation it's pretty hard to say how much mass I've gained. The only real gauge I use other than my shirts is the mirror. To me, it seems the hardwork is paying off though I'd feel weird hearing someone tell me that.

Ya, compliments from others still make me trip. I'd say the most improvement has been in my chest, shoulders, and arms. There's still much more to go though since I want to get a bit wider without pushing 2XL. Guess I best be eating more crapohydrates!!

Activitay

Ok UFAz, nuff talk about me. I'm not an ath-A-lete like some of you fooz but I just do what I do. It's worked for me in helping to cut fat and build muscle. Still got a long way to go but I think I'm on the right track. We'll see.

If you're interested in the story, it's pretty simple. It wasn't for health or financial reasons though both are much better as a result. I just finally realized I was getting too fat and dozing too quickly after eating lunch.

Before I started this I was around 240lb with a size 40 waist. My bad eating and drinking habits had me pounding a case of beer and an equal amount of food on a regular basis. It came to the point where I had to put an end to the gluttony.

What helped me focus and stay motivated was hiking. I hadn't gone in over 10 years but still recalled how grueling it was. The last time we went it stormed leaving us to face flashfloods in the waterfall area, mudslides scaling the mountain back up to the trail, and heavy rain/gusty winds the whole time. Back then I enjoyed the experience but years later the idea of dragging my fat ass through that again was idiotic.

With hiking back on the agenda it was time for a change. I was already doing a lot of pushups in the morning but my intake was too great. First thing I did was greatly reduce the starch in my diet. Never really had much of a sweet tooth so was basically beer, rice, bread, saimin, etc.

Next I had to implement a harsh workout schedule. It had to be one to thoroughly kick my ass into shape. The pushups went out the door and I focused on lifting again rounded out with cardio and abs.

My NordicTrack was okay since it could be stored but the Bodysmith took up way too much space and was a pain to break down and setup all the time. A stickler for not thinking outside the box it never occured to me to buy a standalone bench. Luckily, the timing was right.

Killa had just gotten back into his workout groove and was testing different benches. He turned me onto the Bodygear five position bench. That damn thing is a great addition to my equipment!

One thing I've never liked are the old collars with the allenwrench locks. The old dumbells used those and they're a pain to change. Imagine when the locks get stripped cause that's what happend to one of them. I pulled whatever plates I could from them other dumbell then went over to the store and picked up two new ones. These two have also become nice hardware additions.

Now with everything in place the workout was pretty basic. Started off with stretching followed by abs then cario then weights. Routine was 6 days with one day break. Since then I have modified it to 5 days straight during the week then full weekend break.

When I first started I was only seeing weight loss. It didn't help that I don't eat a lot of meat so I needed some supplementation. After some testing I finally settled on the following stack of over priced drug crap: thermogenic, creatine, protein, multi, joint. If not for the fact they have immensely improved my workout I would say they suck.

Anyway, there's not much to it. Just gotta set aside the two hours or so of time each day to get beat. The more beat, the more meat. Good luck.

Hope this didn't bore you too much!

Country Comfort

Listening to some Country Comfort right now. So mellow it makes those dark clouds blow away. Some good sounds to kick and relax to.
